This is mostly me rambling about random media, mainly games lol. I will try to put warnings for spoilers!
I first finished this game back in 2024, but I revisited it a few weeks ago because I missed it (and also I wanted the platinum hehe) Crow Country is a survival horror game made in 2024 but is in the style of a retro 90s video game. It follows a special agent called Mara Forest who is visting an abandoned theme park which shut suddenly 2 years prior under suspicious circumstances. The first time I finished this game, I played without enemies to enjoy the story (which is really good btw) but recently I decided to try enemy mode. With this game I learnt that practice and persistance really is important because the first time I played with enemies I was SO BAD LOL AND TERRIFIED but as i finished it again and again I manged to skate by in only 3 hours! Honestly Crow Country is one of my favourite games of all time and I think it's so underrated, if you enjoy retro horror and puzzle games like the original resident evil games you will probably like crow country!! The dialogue is so well written and pretty funny at times (ik its a horror game but it has a lot of humour in it too) and even though the gameplay might take you a while to get used to with the combat, it is so worth it. I love this game!!
I expected I would like this show even before I watched it because I like detective stuff, and I was completely right. I can't say that there was a bad episode at all, they were all so interesting and even though each episode is about an hour and a half long, I didn't feel bored or like the episode was too long at all at any time. The writing was amazing, the acting was great as well, it's just a great example of a well written well executed show. I feel like even though at times it was very serious, it still had a lot of humour in which I really appreciated, and the theme song got stuck in my head for so long XD. I got the impression as well that the show makes all of the mysteries and plot hard to figure out and predict because the writers want you to feel like everyone else does around Sherlock when he's able to notice such small details and solve cases that leave all the other characters completely stumped. Sherlock and Watson were really good examples of flawed heros, I expected them to be very heroic and just (I didn't know anything about sherlock before watching the show) but they are much more complex. One of my favourite lines from the show is "Sherlock Holmes is a great man, and I think one day, if we're very lucky, he might even be a good one."
I did not expect to watch this film at all, it was just randomly put on the tv and I started watching it. I expected it to just be a kind of boring romance movie, but it was so funny and entertaining! The story is about a man (William) who works in a travel bookstore and meets this really famous actress (Anna Scott) and they become closer and fall in love. It is a very typical love story from the sounds of it, but it was much more entertaining than I thought it would be. *MILD SPOILERS AHEAD* I particularly liked the part where William had to pretend to be a journalist for a Horse and Hound magazine and he had to interview all of these actors about a film he had no idea about "I was just wondering, did you ever consider having more horses in it?" "Well, we would have liked to, but it was, um, difficult, obviously, being set in space" I think I would definitely watch this film again and I'm happy to have watched such a classic and influencial film!
This is another one I accidentally started watching but I am HOOKED I'm still on season 1 but I really like it. I expected it to be quite cheesy and trashy but I really enjoy it XD sometimes I think it's really predictable then something happens which I just don't expect at all. Also idk if it's just me but some moments in it are genuinely pretty scary?? Anyway I'm excited to see what's going to happen in the next 7 seasons (I have no idea how they are going to drag it on so long)
I haven't actually finished this game yet, but so far it is really fun! I played it mostly with my friend online which is really cute because you can hug each other and hold hands, and the fact you can message ingame is pretty useful! I do find it quite hard to navigate on my own sometimes, I get lost in open world games very often though XD I like that you can gain new emotes by finding spirits, it's very motivating. It is undeniably a very beautiful game, I mean it's made by the same studio who made Journey, which was another very calm beautiful game. I'll update this when I finish the main story, but so far I like it! I'm really sad I missed the AURORA event though, I really like her music :(
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH but tbh I don't like the last season so I get really sad when I reach it...I wish there was another season just like the earlier ones. This show makes me laugh so much, but also there's so many emotional moments
**SPOILER AHEAD**
The storyline with Brendon Frasier's character was so sad and also the episode with Dr Cox and the transplant patients :(
**SPOILER OVER**
This show is so good, I love the characters and the silly daydreams JD has, I also believe it's regarded as one of the most realistic depictions of hospital/medical life so that's really interesting to watch! I would highly recommend this show, I also love playing the theme song on guitar!
It seems like quite a lot of people don't like this show, but I feel like in a way I've grown up with it/ connected with it because my mum loves it! I like it, it's not my favourite sitcom but I like quoting it and I think it's funny but also I find that I care about the characters too and like watching them grow and develop as the show goes on!
To give you a sense of how much I loved this film, me and my friends are thinking of dressing up as the characters from it at a convention soon. It was SO SO GOOD I hadn't watched the original in ages so I didn't really know what to expect and it did not disappoint. I can't lie I cried multiple times during the film lol. I don't even know what more to say it was just really good I highly recommend and I kinda wish dragons were real
Where do I even start with this game I love it so much. The whole thing where you can video everything through Swann's camcorder and make memoirs was SO SO COOL I loved it so much. I obviously took an interest in this game because I'm a Life is Strange fan and it definitely had the same vibe is LiS, comforting and nostalgic but absolutely rips your heart out without warning. I knew this game was going to make me cry going into it but I didn't know just how much I would connect with it. I love all of the characters, the visuals are GORGEOUS and the story is so good. To kind of summarise it, it's about 4 misfit teenage girls who become best friends in the summer of 95 and play music together but there's this mysterious supernatural stuff too which is really mysterious. My favourite character was Kat, but I thought they were all great (even if Nora annoyed me sometimes lol). Overall if you're a fan of Life is Strange or just games with strong stories and choices, you should give this game a go!!
Inside is a horror-puzzle game made in 2016 and the successor to LIMBO (which I haven't finished yet). I played most of this with another person because it is HARDDD and I suck at puzzle games. Inside was a very strange experience, the game leaves a lot of things unexplained even up until the end and even though it doesn't really have jumpscares per se there's just something so unsettling about it. First of all, it did the thing that a lot of horror games seem to do where you play as a very helpless child who doesn't have a weapon or anything, I think in Inside the only commands are Move, Interact and Jump. Being in a horror game with absolutely no resources with you to defend yourself just creates such a tense feeling, it reminds me of Little Nightmares (which btw is an amazing game). It's a pretty short game if you're efficient (or if you look up the puzzle solutions on Youtube XD) but I think it's longevity depends a lot on how good you are at the puzzles. I finished it in about 2 or 3 sittings and I'm not sure if I would choose to play it again any time soon, but I thought it was a really interesting game. If you want something eerie that might make your head hurt a bit, you should give Inside a go.
I was hesitant to play this game because from what I'd heard it sounded like it'd stress me out, but I love it! It's got such a strong message and story, and the gameplay is repetitive but has frequent changes to rules which keep you on your toes, it's a difficult game but I really like playing it. Despite the morbidity of it, the checking of all of the files is strangely relaxing...
